Ganesh Chaturthi, a day dedicated to celebrating the birth of Lord Vinayaka, is just around the corner. Ganesha was born on the fourth day of the new moon period in the month of Avani. Vinayagar or Vinayaka is also known as Vighnaharta meaning remover of all obstacles. Hence devotees worship him before beginning any new venture or project. This year, Vinayakar Chaturthi or Ganesha Chaturthi is on September 2, Monday.

In this web-post, we will tell you how you can dress up for the occasion. We will share ideas based on your favourite stars of Zee Tamil.

1. Parvathy from Sembaruthi

Parvathy of Sembaruthi comes across like a simple girl-next-door. So keep it plain by sporting minimal jewellery and use glass bangles instead of gold. Opt for a bright coloured saree and to compliment the look, wear kumkumam (kumkum) along with a pottu (bindi). Wear small jhumkis and a chain to complete the look.

2. Akhilandeshwari from Sembaruthi

If you like Akhilandeshwari’s look, then go for a zari bordered saree and complement it by wearing heavy jewellery. Akhilandeshwari likes bright and vibrant colours so you can team it up with matching bangles or Kadas. Highlight your eyes and lips well.

3. Jyothi from Nachiryarpuram

If you have a half-saree or a ghaghra-choli, you can take a cue from Jyothi of Nachiyarpuram. Wear the malliga poo like Jyothi to enhance your simple hairstyle. If you have a plain golden half-saree, then wear a brocade blouse to give your look a festive feel. Complement your attire by using gold jewellery.

4. Vanaja from Sembaruthi

Vanaja likes to dress up in vibrant colours. She would often coordinate her attire with jewellery that matches her saree. You can either go for an oxidised set or a pearl set, whichever suits your saree more. Team up your saree with a boat-neck blouse to replicate Vanaja’s look. And last but not the least, do not forget to wear those malliga poo malai for your hair.
