Back in 1995, the show was first titled as ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’. But every year, the creators went on upgrading the singing reality show. From Sa Re Ga Ma, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge USA and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Mega Challenge. There have been several versions of it and we also saw different hosts and judges over the years.
Until now, the show has been hosted by famous personalities like Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Manish Paul, Jay Soni, Javed Ali, Aditya Narayan etc. Even the kids like Dhairya Sorecha and Afsha Musani got a chance to anchor the popular show.
Speaking of format, the show initially had the experts from the field of music to judge the contestants. However, as it went on to become a huge success with great TRPs on the BARC charts, the makers altered its format. During the advent of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge in 2005; the makers introduced the judges as only mentors for these contestants, while scoring was given to the audience. Yes, public voting became a trend after 2005.
As India’s longest-running non-fiction franchise – Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa garnered immense popularity among its audience, the channel decided to expand its operations. It introduced this highest-rated singing reality show in several other regional languages. From Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Odia to Marathi and Gujarati, now the viewers are watching their favourite show in their own language.
One Of Its Many Properties
Speaking of Tamil, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has two properties – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa – Seniors and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs. While the ‘Seniors’ is carved out to search talented singers between 18 to 60 years; Lil Champs brings aspiring singers from the age of 5– 14 to perform in front of an exceptional panel of judges, making their dreams come true.
From Seniors like Rockstar Ramaniamma, Aslam Abdul Majeed and Karthik to Lil Champ Kamalesh, the show has churned out several playback singers and we can’t be proud enough.
Celebration Of The Success
Well, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa crosses its 25-year milestone on May 24, 2020, and therefore, the channel is all set to mark this occasion with a 25-hour virtual music marathon.
